Official Contact Paths

This private reference site is not a government office. It cannot verify detention, arrange release or bond, or obtain an official booking record. Contact the office responsible for the particular record instead.

County Jail and Sheriff

The Jefferson Davis County Sheriff’s Office is the published starting point for county custody, jail-docket, and booking-record questions. The official county listing names Sheriff Ron Strickland and does not publish a separate records line, office hours, fee schedule, or online request form. Call first to ask for the correct custodian, current hours, delivery method, and a fee estimate.

Written requests should identify the person, a date range, and the specific nonexempt jail-docket, booking, or incident material sought. The county records path explains the distinction between a county jail record and a municipal incident record.

Court and Case Contacts

A booking record does not decide a case. Justice Court is the appropriate starting point for early appearances and many lower-court matters; the Circuit Clerk maintains criminal indictments, motions, and judgments. Call before mailing or visiting because the county’s web pages were unstable when these contacts were researched.

Other Record Locations

The location of a record changes with custody and case status. Mississippi Department of Corrections handles state-custody questions, while federal and immigration systems use their own locators. For an MDOC public-records question, the published Records Department contact is P.O. Box 24388, Jackson, MS 39225, 601-933-2889, and MDOCRecordsDepartment@mdoc.state.ms.us. The department should confirm the appropriate route for a particular request.

For a county warrant process or a safe tip route, use Most Wanted Fugitives. News reports are not custody confirmation, and the sheriff remains the local source for a county booking question.
